Anuil (or Anu-Il), born Ceywel and known as the Golden Fox to his followers, is the Aurimer ruler of the isle of Artaeum. A powerful deathless mage, he has acted as the unseen guiding hand behind the Psijic Order since the Second Era.
He was born an Ayleid of Narilmath who practiced magic as a member of the Psijics for a time, briefly serving as an advisor of mysticism to King Dumac before ultimately leading a slave rebellion against the Dwemer kingdom. This "War in the Dark" initially caused Ceywel's exile from Artaeum but, following his reading of the Elder Scroll of Anu and apotheosis into Anuil—"Watcher of Everything"—he returned to serve as a source of guidance for his former colleagues, leading the order from his home in the Hanging Gardens.
