The Battle of Torval was a major engagement during the Fourth Era between the Khajiit of Elsweyr and the forces of the Daedric Prince Hivernal.
Background[]
When the Daedric hordes appeared en masse in the western forests of the Khajiit homeland, Mane Jo'Rakha ordered a force of his people to march to face off against them in hopes of defeating them before they attack a major settlement. Torval was chosen for certain reasons; the city is the home of the Mane and is well defended. The haste of the march was so that many cities were still gathering their soldiers by the time Jo'Rakha had began preparations. Jo'Rakha's forces were still quite large despite this however, and included the Alfiq-raht Senche-raht breeds, among others. Mane Jo'Rakha, learning of the presence of the Daedric Prince in the mortal realm, hoped that killing the monster would bring him even more glory to his name and title.
The Battle[]
Pre-battle skirmishes[]
By the time half of the Khajiit's reinforcements had arrived, the army of the Mane had won three skirmishes against the Daedric hordes. Unfortunatly, the Daedric army only seemed to grow in size.
Battle of Torval[]
Jo'Rakha, joining his troops for the battle, awaited by the defenses of the city as Daedric and Dimoni hordes sped towards the city walls. The battle began as predicted for the Khajiit. The Daedra began their charge towards the city walls, while the Khajiit waited, further luring them into range. Next, the beastial Senche breed were sent to charge the lines of Daedra, inflicting casaulties. In that momentary halt of the Daedric lines, the Khajiit archers and missilemen on the cities walls unleashed their full load, siezing the moment, the Mane Jo'Rakha ordered a counter charge. One of the most vicious of melee combat were faught in that moment at Daedric warriors and Khajiit breeds attacked each other with swords, spears, and claws.
However, upon seeing the endless hordes of Daedra, many army commanders turned their forces away from the main battle in order to fortify their own strongholds, abandoning the Mane, and his army to their deaths. With the Commander's retreat and the near exhausted Khajiit defenders facing the overwhelming numbers of the Daedra, the battle slowly turned into a massacre. Even worse so, Hivernal himself arrived in the guise of a malformed Dragon, with him spawning even more Daedra in the battlefield. With all hope lost, Jo'Rakha watched as the last of his forces were slaughtered by the Daedra, Jo'Rakha himself was beheaded by the humanoid avatar of Hivernal as another army of Daedra arrived to finish off the Khajiit.
With the death of the Mane and no reinforcements coming, the remnants of the army attempted a rout, with the defenders dead and retreating, the inhabitants of the city of Torval were either captured or killed. Either way the dead were resurrected by Oliquar into evil undead beings.
Aftermath[]
As a result of the death of the Mane, the country of Elsweyr fell into chaos. The loss of the Mane and so many Khajiit left Elsweyr largely undefended, luckily the Daedric forces did not advance on the opportunity.
