Vivienne Otinette is a Breton mage and assassin. Though she is the eldest daughter of the Otinettte family of Daggerfall, she was disinherited from her family after refusing to marry a partner of her father's choosing. Since then, she has gone on her own path with the intention of taking her father's place as Lady of Burgwall. She is a Knight-Sister of the Blades, as well as an assassin associated with the Cheydinhal Dark Brotherhood and the Cyrodiilic Mages Guild.

Early Life[]

Vivienne was born on the 23rd of Sun's Dawn, 3E 401 to the Duke and Duchess of Burgwall, a duchy in the Kingdom of Daggerfall in High Rock. She is the youngest child of Duke Marcrand and Amelrelle Otinette. From a young age, Vivienne showed signs of being remarkably headstrong and unwilling to fall in line as a noble lady who was expected to be subservient to her father. She escaped the castle on many occasions and explored the surrounding forests and countryside from a young age, and like most young Bretons developed and adept understanding of the magical arts. She dreamed of becoming a powerful wizard from a young age so that she could influence the minds of others with her magical abilities. Nonetheless, her stubborn father insisted that she be married off upon coming of age for an alliance, and as a result a power struggle between the two began.

Word of her reputation as a firebrand began to spread, and upon becoming ripe of marriage few suitable candidates emerged with the desire to marry her. Her father struggled to find an equitable partner for many years; all the while, Vivienne continued to study magic, history and alchemy which made her a very talented sorceress. Eventually, a falling out occurred with Vivienne and Marcrand, which led to her being disowned and disinherited. She was forced to leave her father's castle, and set out on her own. As a result of her exile, Vivienne swore to all that would listen that one day she would return to Burgwall and claim her father's throne for herself. This raging ambition would be what fueled her for over a decade.

Travels in Skyrim[]

Vivienne, seeing High Rock as a dead end, would later travel to the snowy neighboring province of Skyrim. Seeing it as a haven of ignorance and brutishness, she saw few opportunities there beyond traveling to the College of Winterhold and studying magic. She traveled far to the northeast of Skyrim to the College, where she enrolled as a student.
