Brave New World Cannon

Folkvid is an antiques dealer living in Riften. He primarily collects rare books which he safeguards with a door with multiple locks. He has a stern demeanor and is very suspicious of new faces.

Biography

Not much is known about Folkvid at this point, other than the fact that he has presumably been living in Riften for a long time in order to gather his collection of rare books.

The Regulators of Skyrim

Folkvid is only mentioned earlier in the The Regulators of Skyrim saga by Riamide as a book collector with an interest for herbalism, specifically ghost oaks. He lives somewhere in Riften and is said to be in possession of a book on the subject of the above mentioned tree, which could very well help Myling in her fight against the Umbramancer.

He later makes an appearance in the epilogue when he lets Myling and Aldoran into his house. He is described as a short, crooked man with grey goatee and a pair of halfmoon-formed glasses resting on a hooked nose. Even though he distrusts them at their first meeting, believing they are thugs who have come to plunder his antique collection, he eventually lets them in without further arguments.

Myling later reveals her identity as an apparition to him in privacy from Aldoran. Shocked and amazed at the same time he expresses his pity for her, but tells her to stay away from him when he learns that she has an Umbramancer at her heels. When she explains her situation to him, he agrees to help her and starts to ready his bags in order to travel to Ekendal where he later will explain the connection between apparitions and apparitions.

Trivia

  • He claimed to have an iron mace behind his bed in case thieves would try to rob him, however there is no proof that he was telling the truth.
  • Roughly translated from Swedish 'folkvid' could either mean "with the people" or "people wide".
