For the Martinus in the SimSkyrim timeline, see Martinus Reinus (SimSkyrim).

Introduction:[]

Martinus Reinus is, by technicality, the Jarl of Solitude, but he refuses to use the title. He has short black hair and bright blue eyes. He wears a fine set of dark clothes for most occasions and dons sturdy steel armor for battle. He has a male Vizsla dog named Pierre who follows him everywhere. He is skilled in combat and wields a silver bearded war axe.

Early Life:[]

The Reinus household was like many others during Martinus's younger years. His parents owned a small farm just outside of Solitude and Martinus would occasionally help his father with the fieldwork while his mother traveled the hold, collecting supplies and selling goods. Martinus's mother died of Whitbane when Martinus was 14 years old, which meant that the young Imperial would then have to take the responsibility of working the field while his father handled the exchanges. Martinus hunted and explored the Haafingar wilderness, with his dog Pierre, as much as he possibly could during this stage in his life, though he didn't get much free time.

The Immorality of the Master:[]

One day, while Martinus was off hunting against his father's wishes, the vampire lord Gael Masterheart came by Solitude to scout out the area. He burned down several of the Solitude farms in an attempt to limit the hold's resources. This included the Reinus farm. As Martinus's father, Remus, confronted the vampire, the boy watched from afar. Gael mercilessly murdered Remus, tearing his very heart from his body and drinking its blood.

Seeing the horrors that Gael left in his wake, Martinus, along with Pierre, ran to the forests north of Solitude, surviving off the land as best they could.

A few days later, Martinus found himself back in Solitude with a benevolent vampire by the name of Haemal. While the two men were inside of the city, Gael made a full out attack. Haemal was able to distract the vampire and his thralls for long enough for Martinus to slip out of an irrigation pipe. However, the young Imperial was separated from his dog in the chaos.

The Battle of Solitude:[]

Gael, as the new Jarl of Solitude, forced all of his citizens into enthrallment and slavery, using the city as a kind of hideout. Shortly after, a small group of warriors from Whiterun, lead by Haemal, and with the help of the god Hjord, came to the city, waging war on Gael and his thralls. Gael was eventually killed with the divine blades Solstice and Equinox, but Haemal also died in the process.

The city stood, empty and dead.

Solitude Advocate:[]

The Vow:[]

Returning to Solitude, Martinus found that the city had been all but destroyed. There were no signs of survivors except for Pierre, who Martius found half-buried under a pile of rubble in the Hall of the Dead. As Solitude's only survivor, Martinus became the Jarl by default.

Pledging to never allow a monster like to Gael gain grip of the city and force a second round of destruction, Martinus took it into his own hands to rebuild Solitude.

Although Martinus was technically the Jarl, he vowed to never claim the role. Seeing the destructiob that Gael was able to deal to the city from the seat of the throne, Martinus considered monarchy evil and went as far as to douse the wooden chair in oil and burn it to ash. The young Imperial instead considered himself an advocate of Solitude.

The Rise of the People:[]

Martinus envisioned a new system, one where each person would have equal liberty and political power inside of the hold. He started out small, recruiting a few lost souls with good heart to help him build his dream, but he plans on pushing Solitude past its bounds in wealth, power, and freedom, creating a true utopia.
