The Thalmor Occupation of Skyrim was a major conflict fought during the 4th Era. Following the stalemate in the Skyrim Civil War and the Thalmor invasion of Cyrodiil, the Aldmeri Dominion launched a full-scale invasion of Skyrim. Eventually the citizens of Skyrim were rallied by the Dragonborn Béic and launched a rebellion. After two years of guerilla warfare the rebels enlisted the help of the Argonians and the Redguards who both sent armies to liberate Skyrim and drive out the Thalmor.

Road to War[]

In the years leading up to the invasion Skyrim was a broken nation, the local Nords were divided in a bloody civil war. To make matters worse Dragons had returned and were attacking population centers and infrastructure, Skyrim was weakened. In Cyrodiil the Thalmor invaded with startling speed, the crippled Empire put up little resistance. Several weeks later a massive Thalmor army invaded Skyrim, the divided and weakened nation was unable to mount an organized defense, the occupation began.

Resistance[]

Early Days[]

In the early days of the occupation the Thalmor were quick to chrush any resistance, anyone suspected of being a rebel was sent to work in the mines and the foundries to supply the Thalmor war machine. The Thalmor also tried to eliminate Nordic heroes and leaders, the nobility in Skyrim were slaughtered or imprisoned. However the greatest mistake the Thalmor made was attacking Béic, the Dragonborn when they attacked his home and burned it to the ground. Béic survived and was left with a hatred of the Thalmor.

Rebellion[]

Many Nords resented their new Thalmor overlords and held dreams of freedom, all they needed were capable leaders, and they were about to receive them. Béic who had just survived an attack on his home was contacted by an old friend, Ralof who had escaped from a Thalmor labor camp. The two men conspired to start a rebellion and free their homeland, but they had a long way to go.
