Prince-Slayer, known in Atmoramál as Ǫðlingdræpi, is a legendary sword wielded by the Atmoran hero Finna Who-Threw-The-Sword. Her most famous act was killing the Snow Prince by throwing this weapon into his heart. Since then the blade has been passed down by her descendants. Currently it is in the hands of Reyla Silver-Moth, who claimed the weapon after she avenged the death of its previous owner Jofrodr Sword-Thrower.

History[]

The sword was made circa ME 240 by the then smith of the Skyforge, Jonder Gray-Mane, for Jofrior, the Captain of the crew of the Ratatoskr. She bore the weapon during the invasion of Solstheim by the Companions and fought the Snow Prince with it in personal combat. Their duel ended with her death, however her young daughter Finna picked up the sword and threw it at the Snow Prince. He died when the blade pierced his heart. For this Finna was hailed a hero and the sword was named Prince-Slayer.

Finna wielded the sword throughout her life and eventually became the Harbinger of the Companions in ME 210 after the abdication of Harbinger Hrólfr Word-Bringer when he became the Jarl of Østmark. When she died around ME 160, the sword was passed down to her eldest child. This practice continued through the years in her clan, Clan Sword-Thrower.

In 1E 139, the sword was wielded by a descendant of Finna named Jofrodr Sword-Thrower, a Companion that served in the crew of the Ylgermet. He used the blade to help slay the dragon Jermulgraag alongside thane Harald Word-Bringer. Afterwards, the sword was repaired by the legendary smith Relan Völundr, who greatly improved its quality. Jofrodr wielded the sword during the Second Atmoran-Falmer War. He used it most notably in his duels with Hefndir Sturmhaukr, a Half-Falmer who was fighting against the Atmorans. He died in his final duel with the Half-Falmer, with the sword being taken up by Reyla Silver-Moth who killed Hefndir with the weapon - mimicking Finna taking up the sword against the Snow Prince who killed her mother. After the war, Reyla kept the sword, much to Clan Sword-Thrower's disdain.
